Checkride Weather Prep Book

When I first began flight instructing, I realized Weather Charts was an incredibly difficult subject to teach- there is so much to know, so many different charts, and too many books needed to teach it.  So I set out to create what I called at the time, a Weather Binder.  I made a list of all the weather charts required for each checkride from each PTS (Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI) and set out to create a book that would have all the info I needed to teach each of my students in one book.  It took me months to prepare, but this book made it so much easier and enjoyable to teach weather.

A few years into flight instructing I was given the position of a Stage Check Instructor.  I loved that position, and used this book every time I quizzed students on weather charts and forecasts.  I had many students and instructors ask for a copy of my book, but I was hesitant as I didn't have everything properly cited and it didn't look very professional.

I have made a few changes and updates to my new Checkride Weather Prep book, made it look more professional, and now have it available for each one of you.  Below is a sampling of the book- I always like to look at a few pages before I buy, so I figured you might be the same way.  I have included the first few pages and the section for the Area Forecast.

The Beginning

Welcome to the beginning of Trendy Pilots!

I have been a pilot for 10 years.  I started flying when I was 18 years old and began flight instructing when I was 21.  I earned my CFI, CFII, MEI, and Gold Seal.  I have such a love for flight instructing, and I know I will someday go back to it. Just over a year ago I was hired as a First Officer at the airlines, and have felt so blessed to have that job.  No day is a boring day when flying.  As true aviators, you know what I'm talking about-- the rush you feel when you do your first takeoff for the day, or when you nail that landing in a 20kt crosswind, or when you pop out of clouds, 200' above the runway, on an instrument approach.  Aviation is an amazing career to be in.  I've loved every day I've been a pilot!

But I'm not your typical pilot.  I'm a girl, only 5' tall, 100 lbs, and I love high heels.  I remember when I first started flying the DA20 Katana I had a hard time seeing outside the cockpit because of my height.  I looked into buying an aviation "booster" seat, but they were all so expensive.  So I brainstormed with my mother, and we designed a seat cushion for me.  We spent only a few dollars and I had the perfect seat cushion.  I used that cushion for years, until I taught a student that needed it more than me.  I happily sold it to her, but I realized that there is a market here.  Things that I've had to create throughout the years, other people may need too (though I'm not planning on selling booster seats as they have come a long way since I began).

I am excited to finally bring some of those products to you.  This will be a slow process in the beginning because I want to make sure that everything is exactly how I've imagined it.  But I am excited to start this new journey and bring you trendy, helpful aviation products.
